MN Legal Events - Week of 2/6

By Michael R Carlson posted 02-06-2017 11:11 AM

I count 26 legal events upcoming this week including Friday's Corporate Counsel Institute on 2/10. KeyNote speaker is University of Minnesota law professor, Richard Painter. Professor Painter is former Chief White House Ethics Lawyer for George W. Bush. He's suing the current president for violating the constitution. Professor Painter will discuss how conflicts of interest apply to state and federal government employees ranging from school board member to President of the United States.

At the time of this post, there's still room for this week's free training on new local rule 5.6 - filing documents under seal in civil cases. The rule requires that all documents filed in a civil case, including sealed documents, be filed electronically on ECF. These classes are filling up fast. When I originally posted these to the calendar last week, about half were already closed. Now, only a few remain.

Admin note: folks complained that the color yellow -- for law school events -- made the calendar hard to read. So, law school events are now in brown. Send any updates, additions, corrections or other feedback to me at mcarlson@mnbar.org.
