MN Legal Events - Week of 1/30

By Michael R Carlson posted 01-30-2017 10:21 AM

I count 17 events this week including a free film screening of American Denial at Normandale Community College on 1/31.  From the film's website:

Follow the story of Swedish researcher Gunnar Myrdal whose landmark 1944 study, An American Dilemma, probed deep into the United States' racial psyche. The film weaves a narrative that exposes some of the potential underlying causes of racial biases still rooted in America’s systems and institutions today...

This event includes a conversation with the film's director, Llewellyn Smith, attorney Donald M. Lewis, and Normandale history professor, Lisa Rude. The panel will be moderated by Lissa Jones-Lofgren, host of KMOJ's Urban Agenda.

Other events this week include:

  • Free CLE - Public Defender Appellate Pro Bono program on 2/2

  • The 16th Annual MLBA Conference on 2/4. This year's keynote speaker is Ryan Thoreson

  • MSBA's Food, Drug & Device Law Section is sponsoring a night to prepare and serve a meal at the Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery: Cook for Kids program on 1/31.
