Hear from a diverse panel including a prosecutor, public
defender, district court judge, and probation officer about how race affects
different aspects of criminal law ranging from charging to plea negotiations,
to trial, sentencing, and post-conviction community integration. Panelists will
address statistical trends and how they see them play out in the streets in the
wake of reform and reevaluation of policing, in the courtroom, and on probation.
The presentation will conclude with a candid, vulnerable acknowledgement of the
panelists’ own implicit bias and a discussion of skills they have honed to help
them address them and become stronger stewards of racial and community
justice.
