  • Jumpstart your practice on May 22

    On Tuesday, May 22, the MSBA will be holding another ‘Jumpstart Your Practice’ workshop to help lawyers with the business of the practice of law. The all-day event will start with a panel discussion featuring solo/small firm attorneys Sonia Miller-Van Oort, Sarah Soucie Eyberg, and Karin Ciano, who will share tips, tricks, and other advice about starting and running a law firm in the 21st Century. The day will include three sessions with Chelsey Lambert of Lex Tech Review, focusing on technology, marketing, and other soft skills necessary for running a law practice. Over lunch Carol Bros from SMRLS will discuss how pro bono work can benefit your practice. The day will conclude with an address from Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Anne McKeig, who will discuss Lawyer Discipline and Lawyer Well-Being, identifying some of the most common violations of the Minnesota Rules of Professional Conduct and the challenges to lawyer well-being that underlie some of the violations, as documented by the report of the National Task Force on Lawyer Well-Being. .

    This six-credit program will be held in Minneapolis, but remote participation will be offered as well. The early bird rate ($49) expires on April 15, after which the member price reverts to $75 (which also includes a light breakfast and lunch).
