Patrick K. Costello is a partner in the law firm of Costello, Carlson & Butzon, LLP. Founded in 1893, the firm has offices in Jackson, Lakefield and Heron Lake, Minnesota. A graduate of Hamline University and Creighton University School of Law, Costello is a native of Lakefield. His law practice involves large and complex estates, agricultural law, real estate, probate and trust, estate and gift tax, business and charitable entities, estate planning, and commercial transactions.
Costello is a member of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, the American Bar Association, and the Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska State Bar Associations. He is a director of the Minnesota State Bar Foundation. Costello is the past-president of the American Agricultural Law Association. He is also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Law Association and the Minnesota Hispanic Bar Association. He has served on the board of governors of Minnesota State Bar Association and as chair of their Agricultural Law Section, and as co-chair of the Animal Law Committee of the Tort, Trial and Insurance Section of the ABA. Costello is a frequent contributor to Minnesota Continuing Legal Education as an author and speaker. He is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Sections on Agricultural Law, Real Property, Business Law, Probate and Trust Law, Animal Law, Immigration Law, Elder Law, Solo and Small Firm Practice and Outstate Practice. In the ABA, he is a member of the Sections on Real Property, Trust and Estate Law, Antitrust Law, and Legal Education & Admissions to the Bar. He has primarily represented farmers for thirty-five years.
