GDPR Primer for Minnesota Attorneys

When:  May 16, 2018 from 12:00 PM to 01:00 PM (CT)

On May 25, 2018, the European Union (EU) will put into effect the strictest and broadest data privacy law in the world, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). While questions still abound as to the global impact of this new law, attorneys and business in Minnesota are left to wonder: does GDPR hold any significance for me? While the answer is variable across businesses large and small, this CLE will provide an overview of GDPR and start you down the path of answering this question for yourself and your clients. Topics covered will include:

- A broad overview of GDPR;
- Explanation of the major changes and geographical reach as compared to previous EU data privacy laws;
- Examples of how this new law may impact you and your clients;
- A preview of the global influence of GDPR as countries try to “keep up” with the new law.
